Columbus Day Tournament
by posted 10/15/2019

I hope the boys enjoyed the tournament on Sunday. I thought they played well, and adapted to the small goals as the tournament went on.

Game 1, 0-0 against Somers was a game i thought we fully controlled and spent most time in the attacking half, without creating too many scoring chances. We had a couple of chances but with the amount of possession we had, we could have had more. The small goals and their defensive system made it hard to break through, in a game where we needed some quick passing to create the space.

Game 2, 4-0 win against CT Rush Shoreline was a strong performance against the weaker of the 3 teams. The boys challenge was to pass quicker, to create scoring opportunities, and the way the boys played, it could have been a lot more if it wasn't for their keeper and some close misses. They created so many chances, and used each other really well.

Game 3, 3-1 win against Westport, was probably our hardest game as Westport also played some good football and had some chances to score. We continued to pass the ball and used each other well, in an open game. We scored some nice goals to wrap up the tournament with 2 wins and 1 tie, and finish top of the group of 6 teams on goal difference. Well done everyone on a fun afternoon of soccer.
